The walnut used in this piece came from a tree in Hamilton, Texas that had to be taken down because it was destroying the home foundation. The ash came from Austin, Texas, cut down by the homeowners to clear property.
Walnut and ash are each highly prized woods for making furniture. The combination of lightly colored ash and darker walnut creates a stunning visual contrast, while the carved contours seem to merge both wood types into a single, harmonious panel. Figured grain patterns can be seen in every section, with some ash pieces exhibiting a “curly” pattern.
The original piece was backlit with LEDs. We can customize by size, shape, wood species, and design features.
